Define value from the project
Customers expect correct, certified parts delivered in sequence. Those expectations should guide internal priorities.
- Clarify quality requirements before fabrication.
- Connect shop deliveries to the erection schedule.
- Separate real urgency from unvalidated changes.
Map the value stream
A map from engineering through shipping exposes activities that neither transform the part nor reduce risk.
- Include waits between departments.
- Measure work in process by stage.
- Identify handoffs that create errors.
Create daily improvement
Sustainable gains come from visible standards and teams that can solve problems close to the process.
- Organize work areas with 5S.
- Test small changes against a clear measure.
- Update the standard when the change works.
